The Women’s Bangladesh Premier League will be launched by BCB with three teams.

Soon after the current men’s tournament concludes on February 7, the BCB will begin its first Women’s Bangladesh Premier League (WBPL). It will be a three-team competition, with each side playing the others twice for a total of six league games before the final, according to BCB director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim.

“The board has been thinking about the various ways that we can take women’s cricket forward,” Fahim stated. “We considered holding a T20 tournament just for women. Today, we made the decision to participate in the Women’s BPL.

rding to Fahim, a few owners have expressed interest in owning the women’s teams, and the BCB is in discussions with some of the men’s BPL clubs about the matter.

“We have already spoken to a few BPL franchises, who have shown interest [in owning women’s teams],” he stated. “We’re interested in how a women’s competition affects our Twenty20 cricket. We’re hoping it will assist our women’s team advance.

Fahim stated that each side will have a maximum of 15 players and that just one foreign player would be permitted in the starting lineup.

“We won’t take many overseas players due to the financial constraints,” he stated. “The teams are under financial strain from having four foreign players; maybe they don’t want to bear that burden. Our goal is to provide our domestic cricket players with additional possibilities. We’d want to make it more competitive.

This will be Bangladesh’s inaugural women’s T20 competition. The BCB has introduced a women’s three-day competition, and the nation’s women cricket players compete in the one-day league in Dhaka.
