Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively issue a gag order in response to Justin Baldoni’s video release.

Following the publication of raw on-set footage from It Ends With Us by Justin Baldoni and his legal team, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ legal team is retaliating by requesting a gag order.

After unedited film from the It Ends With Us set was made public, the Hollywood couple has requested a federal judge to impose a gag order on Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer.

In a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman on Tuesday, the couple’s attorneys asked that Freedman be barred from speaking about the matter in public.

Freedman’s remarks may “taint the jury pool” if Lively’s sexual harassment case against Baldoni goes to trial, according to the lawyers for Lively and Reynolds.

pursuant to several publications, the letter states that “federal litigation must be conducted in court and according to the relevant rules of professional conduct, as Ms. Lively’s counsel have attempted, repeatedly, to caution Mr. Freedman.”

Since Lively filed her complaint on December 20, Freedman “has given television interviews, appeared on podcasts, issued inflammatory written statements, and leaked information… to the Hollywood press and tabloid media,” according to the letter, which accuses him of launching a publicity campaign.

Freedman’s activities, according to Lively’s legal team, include leaking behind-the-scenes video of the co-stars recording a slow-dance scene that is cited in her case. They also assert that Freedman’s remarks are part of a larger attempt to harm Lively’s credibility and reputation.

According to Lively’s lawyers, “Freedman’s actions violate New York State’s Rules of Professional Conduct regarding trial publicity.”

However, Baldoni and his staff “have the right to defend themselves with the truth,” according to Freedman, who has defended his activities.

As Lively and Reynolds continue to resist what they refer to as a “campaign of retaliation,” using Freedman’s actions as more proof of their allegations, the court battle intensifies.

The implementation of the gag order has not yet been decided by the court.
