Dua Lipa is officially engaged to actor Callum Turner, and the narrative of their love reads like something out of a romance movie.
In a new cover interview with British Vogue, released Thursday, June 12, the singer discussed the unexpected and profound coincidences that led to their romance.
“There’s a lot of Sliding Doors moments,” Lipa, 29, said, describing the minor twists of fate that kept them in one other’s orbit until they ultimately met.
One of such situations occurred in 2014, when Lipa was working at La Bodega Negra—the same year Turner was snapped outside the same location.
Years later, in 2020, the two unintentionally attended the same party shortly before the COVID-19 lockdown. After comparing images, they spotted the same individual in the backdrop of each one, which was shot barely an hour apart.
“We have so many friends in common,” she said, adding to the series of moments that suggested something more. A watershed moment occurred at London’s River Cafe, when Lipa first met Turner while eating supper with her father.
Turner returned to the same place a year later, while dining with a friend in Los Angeles. “Oh, it’s that really hot guy from The River Cafe,” Lipa remembers thinking at the time.
“And we both just happened to be reading the same book,” she told me. When asked if it seemed like fate, Lipa did not hesitate. “1000%.”
During the chat, she confirmed their engagement with the words, “It’s very exciting.”
The couple was first spotted together in early 2024, slow-dancing at Turner’s Masters of the Air celebration. They officially announced their relationship on Instagram in July 2024, and they made their red carpet debut as a pair at the 2025 Met Gala last month.
