Recently, Rachel Zegler has spoken out against Snow White’s criticism.
The West Side Story actress responded to her remarks on the Disney live-action film in a recent interview with Vogue Mexico by stating, “I interpret people’s feelings about this movie as their passion for her.”
“What an honor to be a part of something for which people feel so much passion,” Rachel said in Spanish to the magazine.
The 23-year-old said, “We can only give our best effort because we won’t always share the same feelings as those around us.”
The actress from Shazam! said that seeing Halle Bailey as Ariel in The Little Mermaid was “a beautiful experience” for all the “Black girls around the world.”
Rachel considered her Colombian roots at other points during the session.
The Hunger Games actress clarified, “I know the community doesn’t want to be perceived as a monolith, but the reality of being Latino and working in this industry is that we try to represent the entire diaspora.”
“I carry it in my heart every day, I represent it in my narrative, and I know where I have been,” she added.
Rachel also talked openly about the differences in the Snow White films from the 19th and 20th centuries.
