In Tennessee, Pamela Moses will be given a fresh trial in her voting fraud case. A Memphis girl sentenced to 6 years in jail earlier this month for expenses of illegally registering to vote will get a brand new trial, a Tennessee judge ruled Friday after new evidence surfaced in the case.

Moses, 44, was convicted in November 2021 of illegally registering to vote in 2019 and was sentenced to 6 years and indefinitely. She maintains that she was unaware that she was ineligible to vote.

The case hinges on what occurred in 2019, when she tried to revive her voting rights and requested a probation officer to finish the certificates that begin the method in Tennessee. The officer verified that Moses had completed probation for the crimes impacting her voting rights, so Moses submitted the certificates and registered to vote.
