On March 10, Nicolas Cage made a spectacular comeback to the limelight by attending the SXSW premiere of his next movie, The Surfer, in Austin, Texas.

His first public appearance since being dropped from a lawsuit brought by his former girlfriend, Christina Fulton, occurred during the appearance.

The 61-year-old Oscar winner looked stunning in a black suit adorned with glitter, and because it’s Nicolas Cage, she added a little flare with a black top hat, sunglasses, and a satin button-up.

He appeared unconcerned and eager to promote his new movie as he waved to the photographers on the red carpet.

Lorcan Finnegan’s film The Surfer follows Cage’s character as he goes back to the beach where he grew up to surf with his kid, only to be ridiculed by a gang of locals. As the disagreement intensifies with the rising summer temperatures, the tension physically heats up, driving him to the brink.

Cage’s entrance on the red carpet came as news broke that Fulton had formally thrown down her lawsuit against him for their 34-year-old son, Weston Coppola Cage.

The complaint, which was filed last month, charged Cage of neglecting to step in and help Weston with what Fulton characterized as his mental health issues. The case against Weston is still pending even though the accusations against Cage were withdrawn “with prejudice,” which means they cannot be refiled.

After an alleged fight with Fulton in April of 2024, Weston was arrested in July on accusations of assault with a dangerous weapon.

She subsequently described the episode as a “mental-health crisis” and underlined the significance of Weston getting the right care, despite her initial denial that there was a quarrel.
