Urvashi Rautela has been making headlines quite a bit lately but not for ideal reasons. The actress, currently in the midst of promoting her latest film, Daaku Maharaj, has gotten herself into a heated controversy following her ‘insensitive’ remarks on Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident. Amid the numerous memes that have already been made from the interview, popular television actor, Nakuul Mehta stirred the plot further with his direct jab at Urvashi.
Nakuul Mehta slams Urvashi Rautela on social media
Nakuul Mehta, known for his wit and charm, has stirred up a social media storm after taking a sharp dig at fellow actor, Urvashi Rautela. The backlash began when she condemned the recent attack on Saif Ali Khan, but instead of offering a heartfelt response, her statement appeared to focus more on flaunting her diamond-studded jewellery. Her attempt at damage control only worsened things when she posted and then quickly deleted the apology note directed towards Saif. It looks like the actress miserably failed to quell the backlash.
On January 18, 2025, Nakuul, in his signature wit, decided to take a jibe at Urvashi’s remarks. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nakuul chimed in on the Urvashi controversy. His sarcastic tweet read:
“In today’s popular opinion, Urvashi Rautela should be our national spokesperson.”
Nakuul’s brief post was loaded with sarcasm, and netizens were quick to chime in. One user wrote, “She’s too tone-deaf and self-absorbed to be of any intellectual value,” while another wrote, “Will be so soothing in diplomatic talk.”
Urvashi Rautela faces backlash for ‘insensitive’ comment on Saif Ali Khan’s attack
Urvashi Rautela, currently enjoying the success of her latest Telugu film, Daaku Maharaj, recently participated in an interview with ANI to promote the movie. During the discussion, she was asked to comment on the brutal attack on Saif Ali Khan. While she initially described it as an “unfortunate incident,” she quickly shifted the focus to her film’s success—a response that did not sit well with netizens. She remarked:
“It is very unfortunate. Daaku Maharaj ke Rs. 105 crore ke success ke baad, my mother… unhone ne mujhe gift ki diamond-studded Rolex and my father ne mujhe ye choti si mini-watch gift kari. Abhi humne 105 paar kar diya hai toh it’s just a gift, but then hum confident nahi feel karenge bahar openly. We cannot wear kuch bhi. Ek insecurity ho jati hai ki anybody can attack us toh woh bohot zyada unfortunate hai.”
Urvashi Rautela posts an apology note but quickly deletes it
Urvashi’s remarks drew widespread backlash on social media. Responding to the flak, Urvashi issued a public apology on her IG handle. Her post, which soon got deleted, read:
“Dear Saif Ali Khan sir, I hope this message finds you in strength. I am writing with a deep sense of regret and heartfelt apology. Until now, I was completely unaware of the intensity of the situation you are facing. I feel ashamed that I allowed myself to be consumed by the excitement surrounding Daaku Maharaaj and the gifts I was receiving, instead of pausing to acknowledge and understand what you are going through. Please accept my sincerest apologies for being so ignorant and insensitive… I am truly sorry, sir, for my earlier indifference. I promise to do better and to always prioritize compassion and understanding in the future.”
