Michael B. Jordan on delayed ‘Blade’ movie

Michael B. Jordan believes that “a Blade movie” will help Marvel regain its success.

Despite recent setbacks, the actor is still hopeful about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Jordan—who played Erik Killmonger in Black Panther—expressed faith in Marvel Studios’ capacity to pick up steam in a recent interview with GQ magazine.

“Marvel is doing fantastic,” Jordan remarked. “They will regain it.”

The MCU’s recent performance has been inconsistent.

Although Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge hit, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels did not do well, which raised questions about the franchise’s future.

Captain America: Brave New World, the most recent film, has likewise had mixed reviews; out of 133 reviews, it presently has a 53% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jordan is particularly excited to see Marvel’s much anticipated Blade film come to fruition.

The movie, which was first announced in 2019 and starred Mahershala Ali, has had several setbacks and gone through several writers and directors. Fans are unsure of Blade’s future after Marvel formally pulled it from its release schedule last year.

“It’s difficult to launch any franchise,” Jordan stated. “I’m hoping it works out. You understand what I mean when I say that I would like to watch a Blade movie? Everything revolved on the Blade franchise.

Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel Studios, has assured fans that Blade is still a top priority in spite of the delays.

During the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour last summer, Feige stated, “I mean, for the last two years as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right ‘Blade’ movie.” He emphasized that a major focus has been not rushing the project.

Feige reiterated Marvel’s resolve to have the vampire hunter in the MCU, even after the movie was removed off the release schedule.

“We adore the character. We adore how Mahershala portrays him. And don’t worry, we notify the audience if we alter the course of a project or are still determining how it fits into our timeline. You are all informed about current events.
