Officers in California final month discovered the physique of a person they stated had possible died years in the past sitting in a chair inside his dwelling. Now the coroner suspects the person’s son had been accumulating his deceased dad’s retirement cash as his father decomposed. 

“He was mainly mummified,” Kevin Raggio, the Calaveras County coroner, instructed USA TODAY. 

Raggio recognized the person as Vada Clinton Freer, 91. He was discovered at his dwelling in a distant city close to California’s Sierra Nevada mountains by Calaveras County Sheriff deputies once they tried to conduct a next-of-kin notification final month. 

Freer’s son, Randall Freer, 63, had died immediately that day in a neighboring county, Lt. Greg Stark, a Calaveras County Sheriff’s Division spokesperson, instructed the Los Angeles Occasions.
