YORK, Maine – A consolation canine from a Maine police division is retiring after 5 months on the job because of seizures brought on by stress.

The husky, named Yukon, has had two seizures since being introduced on to York Police Division in September, in keeping with his handler, York police Detective Jamie Robie.

One of many seizures was on the York Center Faculty whereas having lunch with a pupil. The opposite seizure, Robie stated, came about when she was alone with him. She stated Yukon was since examined by a vet and that stress is believed to be what triggered the seizures.

Police Chief Owen Davis instructed the Selectboard final week that Yukon’s sudden seizure dysfunction means he won’t be able to proceed his function.

“It’s an awesome program, one thing that we need to instill,” Davis stated. “Yukon’s acquired an awesome residence proper now, and is doing nice, however wasn’t suited to be the consolation canine.”
