Lala Kent, his former co-star on Vanderpump Rules, is praising Ax Taylor’s candor as he opens up about his difficulties.
Kent, 34, responded to Taylor’s disclosure of his cocaine addiction during her March 4 Amazon Live event by praising his choice to come out.
She said, “That is not easy to admit,” “This is going to be his journey and his journey only, and he should be the only one to speak on it because none of us know what he’s been through in his life.”
The 45-year-old Taylor publicly revealed his ongoing problem during his confession on the Hot Mic podcast with Alex Baskin.
Taylor, who is committed to being clean, disclosed that he had stopped drinking and was “83 days sober” at the time of his interview.
Kent, who has been outspoken about her own sober path, stressed that everyone’s definition of recovery is unique.
“Now that Jax has come out talking about his addiction, it’s a very, very delicate subject,” she said. “There is no one-size-fits-all approach to sobriety. Although each person’s level of addiction varies, addiction is addiction.
Having been clean for “six years, four months, and some change,” Kent has personal experience with the difficulties and said he hopes Taylor’s confession will be the start of a new chapter in his life.
Some people have supported Taylor’s choice to come clean, however Brittany Cartwright, his 36-year-old former wife, has a different take.
Cartwright, who has a 3-year-old son named Cruz with Taylor, posted her comments on Instagram after his podcast participation.
She posted on her Instagram Story, saying, “Unfortunately, his addiction has done irreparable damage to my son and I.” “I’ve been attempting to assist him for years. More than anybody else, I wish I could express my pride in him today, but I would be lying. His behavior will be self-evident.
Cartwright’s close friend Kent recognized the delicate nature of the matter.
