As part of an all-female mission, Katy Perry is scheduled to travel to space.
According to the aerospace engineering firm, Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket will carry the 40-year-old singer on its next launch.
Former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, research scientist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, TV hostesses Gayle King, and Lauren Sanchez, who is also Bezos’ fiancée, will accompany the Teenage Dream singer on the 11th human mission of the New Shepard program.
According to the mission’s organizers, it will “challenge [the crew’s] perspectives of Earth,” “empower them,” and “create lasting impact that will inspire generations.”
With over 115 billion streams, Perry is among the best-selling musicians of all time.
“Reach for the stars, literally and figuratively” is what she hopes her journey will inspire in her daughter and others.
52 individuals have been flown above the Karman line, which is widely acknowledged as the frontier of space, thus far in the New Shepard program.
