According to Kate Hudson, she is not in a rush to marry her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.

During her Monday interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress—who has been engaged to Fujikawa for more than three years—spoke candidly about her opinions on marriage and wedding preparation.

For Hudson, marriage is more about the freedom and commitment that come with it than it is about the legal obligations.

“I find the contractual aspect difficult. I enjoy my independence. The idea of freedom appeals to me,” she said. Additionally, Hudson mentioned that she enjoys the thought of “being engaged forever.”

It’s possible that the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star’s background shaped her opinions on marriage. Despite dating since 1983, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, her parents, have never tied the knot.

“The contract was never signed by them. Hudson said, “They’ve been engaged since I was seven years old.”

The actress said that she lacks the zest and zeal that many soon-to-be brides have when it comes to wedding preparation.

“I simply don’t feel the same way about getting married and being excited for the celebration. The reverse is true,” she stated. “I’m like, ‘OK, I have to plan it, and then it’s going to cost so much money,’ and it’s just a lot.”

Hudson isn’t totally against getting married, even though she might not be happy with the prospect of a large wedding.

She also quipped that while she’s open to “maybe” eloping, she still wants to enjoy some of the customs of a conventional wedding, such as the “gravy boat.”

After being friends for fifteen years, Hudson and Fujikawa started dating in 2016. They were engaged in September 2021 and welcomed their daughter, Rani Rose, in 2018.

In addition, Hudson has two kids from past relationships: Ryder Robinson and Bingham Hawn Bellamy.
