A well-known US team visiting Greenland is led by JD Vance’s wife.
As President Donald Trump continues to threaten to seize the strategically important Danish territory, a high-profile US delegation is scheduled to travel to Greenland this week.

The delegation, which also includes White House national security adviser Mike Waltz and energy secretary Chris Wright, will be led by Usha Vance, the wife of vice president JD Vance. Mr. Waltz and Mr. Wright want to travel to the US military installation in Greenland, Pituffik Space Base.

“This is a visit to learn about Greenland, its culture, history, and people and to attend a dogsled race the United States is proud to sponsor, plain and simple,” said Hughes.

Since assuming office on January 20, Trump has made the US annexation of Greenland a central topic of discussion.

The US would profit from Greenland’s advantageous position and abundant mineral riches. It is also essential to the US ballistic missile warning system and is located along the quickest path from Europe to North America.

Such a proposal has been opposed by the governments of Denmark and Greenland.

In response to the visit, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen wrote that “this is something we take seriously.”

“The fundamental rules of sovereignty” should be the foundation for Denmark’s relationship with the United States, she stated.
