During the Los Angeles flames, Julia Roberts didn’t hold back from confronting the robbers who preyed on the weak.
The Pretty Woman actress, who usually keeps to herself, made a rare and vehement comment on Instagram on Monday.
“F.U. looters,” wrote Roberts, a mother of three and the wife of cinematographer Danny Moder.
As people flee the fires, looters have been focusing on abandoned multimillion-dollar houses that have been left unattended. The problem has gotten worse as a result of police having trouble reaching these fire-prone locations and power failures turning off fire alarms.
Meanwhile, tech billionaire Elon Musk has been charged by California Governor Gavin Newsom with disseminating false information and “encouraging looting.”
According to reports, Musk, a Trump supporter, said that Newsom was decriminalizing looting.
Newsom, however, denied this, saying, “Stop lying and telling people that looting is no longer illegal. It isn’t. It is, and always has been, prohibited.
In addition to discussing looters, Roberts also conveyed her profound worry for the destruction brought forth by the Palisades fires. “So much assistance and healing are required. “This is something we will overcome,” the Oscar-winning actress wrote.
Roberts went on to showcase several groups’ help initiatives.
In order to provide both short-term and long-term assistance to individuals impacted by the fires, she championed the SoCal Fire Fund, which was established by the CAA Foundation in partnership with CORE Response, the Entertainment Industry Foundation, and LAUSD.
