Ego Nwodim’s next major move revealed after ‘SNL’ exit

Ego Nwodim’s post-Saturday Night Live career is already taking off.

Without wasting any time after her SNL departure, the comedian, who spent seven seasons as a cast member on the iconic NBC sketch show, is all set to take over a comedy show.

She will be performing at Lincoln Center Theater’s Claire Tow Theater in New York City from November 19 to November 23.

Directed by Zhailon Levingston, the new gig will mark the American actress’ first time performing Off Broadway.

Her major project was revealed a month after she exited from SNL last month ahead of the show’s 51st season.

In an Instagram post on September 12, the 37-year-old bid farewell to SNL with a heartfelt message.

“The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL,” she wrote as she announced her departure. “I am immensely grateful to Lorne [Michaels] for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories (and that laughter) with me always.”

Beginning as a featured player in season 44 in 2018 before being promoted to repertory player ahead of season 46 in 2020, the Players actress exit prompted shocked reactions from both past and present SNL members.

Nwodim was one of five cast members to depart SNL ahead of season 51, along with Heidi Gardner, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, and featured player Emil Wakim.
