According to their children, the transfer of a British couple who were held by the Taliban to a high security jail in Kabul is concerning.

On February 1, the Taliban’s interior ministry arrested 79-year-old Peter Reynolds and his 75-year-old wife, Barbie.

The Taliban said the arrests occurred because to a “misunderstanding” that the Reynolds had forged Afghan passports at the end of last month.

The Taliban said they would try to free the couple “as soon as possible” the day before, according to a BBC report.

However, the four adult children of the Reynolds have recently said that they have learned that their parents were separated while being held in a high security facility without facing any charges.

It was said that Mr. Reynolds required “urgent” medical attention. According to reports, his wife has been informed that she can no longer visit him after he was transferred to an unidentified location.

The family told Sky News that Mr. Reynolds was apparently experiencing severe intestinal problems, a double eye infection, and a chest infection as a result of allegedly inadequate nourishment, putting his life in jeopardy.

“Our parents’ detention is cruel and unjust,” they stated.

“It is against fundamental human rights and the Islamic values of mercy and compassion, particularly during Ramadan, to deny Dad needed medical attention.

“We urge those in power to show goodwill and release them immediately.”
