Alanis Morissette had an unexpected fashion moment lately when she arrived at a function wearing sweatpants and was gifted a couture top by Madonna.

Alanis remembers dressing casually for a meeting with Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, before joining the Maverick label.

She hadn’t planned anything extravagant, but the famed singer noticed and presented her a Prada blouse. Alanis, on the other hand, was caught aback, claiming she had never anticipated something so generous or expensive.

“I was too cheap to invest on beautiful clothing. I was creating [the 1995 album] Jagged Little Pill when Guy Oseary from Madonna’s record company Maverick approached me for a meeting.

“I simply had sweatpants on, but I played him the songs Perfect, Hand in My Pocket, and You Oughta Know, and he signed me.

“Madonna was always coming in and weighing in, and one day she said, ‘Girl, I’m going to get you your first blouse.

Alanis is slated to perform at the UK’s famed Glastonbury Festival later this month, and she teased what she would wear during her show at Worthy Farm.

She went on to say, “I’d describe it as little eclectic with an emphasis on natural. So, flowers and soil, but because I’m from the 1990s, it’s also like, ‘put glitter on it, screw it up, fray the edges.
