A Turkish ski resort fire claims the lives of at least ten people.

A hotel with over 200 guests at a skiing resort in western Turkey caught fire on Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and injuring 32 more, according to officials.

Families go to skiing resorts and other holiday destinations during the countrywide winter break, which coincided with the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the village of Kartalkaya in Bolu Province.

According to press accounts, the fire began at around 3:30 a.m. local time, while the majority of the inhabitants were asleep. Video footage revealed that some residents made a rope out of their bedsheets in an attempt to leave, which they then used to drop to a lower floor.
