Kim Kardashian West, who is 41 today, has established herself as one of the most famous names and faces in pop culture, fashion, and business.
Kardashian West has developed cosmetics company KKW Beauty, apparel line Skims, and the hit mobile game “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” so far in her career.
Kardashian West rose to prominence as a friend and stylist to socialite and heiress Paris Hilton, regularly appearing with her in paparazzi photos and as a guest on Hilton’s show “The Simple Life,” which she co-hosted with Nicole Richie. She joined the business field a few years later when she founded Dash, a boutique shop in Calabasas, Calif., with her sisters Kourtney and Khloé.
Her entire family debuted on their own reality television show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” on E! in 2007. It centred on her mother Kris Jenner, stepmother Caitlyn Jenner, siblings Kourtney, Khloé, and Robert Jr., as well as half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and their personal and professional life.
From 2007 through 2021, the series became one of the longest-running reality television shows in the United States, broadcasting for a total of 20 seasons. The last season began in March and ended in June. “KUWTK” was so popular that it spawned a slew of spin-offs, including “Kourtney and Kim Take Miami,” “Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons,” and “Life of Kylie.”

In 2009, Kardashian West introduced her first fragrance, “Kim Kardashian.” In the early 2010s, she and her sisters launched a slew of clothing brands and fragrances. Kardashian West made her gaming debut in 2014, when she released the mobile app game “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood,” with the objective of becoming a famous celebrity in Hollywood. The game grossed more than $1 million in its first five days of sales, according to the New York Times. She created “Kimoji,” an emoji collection for iOS devices, a year later.
Kardashian West married rapper Kanye West in 2014, after dating for more than two years. The couple has four children: two daughters, North and Chicago, and two sons, Saint and Psalm. She formally filed for divorce from West in February of this year. The ex-couple will continue to have shared custody of their children. After Damon Thomas and Kris Humphries, West was Kardashian West’s third marriage. Throughout her professional career, Kardashian West has built a name for herself with her bold, statement-making fashion ensembles at some of the world’s most prestigious events, including the Met Gala.
Kardashian West made a splash at the 2019 Met Gala in a bespoke Mugler wet-look latex corseted gown. She donned an all-black, bespoke Balenciaga ensemble, complete with a face covering and long hair extensions done in a ponytail, to this year’s event. Thierry Mugler talked with WWD last month about working with Kardashian West ahead of the opening of his new show. “She’s genuinely a self-made lady, and she admits so.”
‘Not bad for someone with no skill, right?’ she asks. “Her greatest gift, after all, is a fantastic innate intuition for business,” the designer explained. “Her business sense is fantastic, and she’s continually changing and transforming at a very high level.” Kardashian West recently astonished fans and critics alike by hosting “Saturday Night Live” for the first time (wearing Balenciaga), her charisma and humility carrying her through a monologue that poked fun at her mother, her forthcoming divorce, and even O.J. Simpson.
