An elementary college trainer suffered life-threatening accidents after being shot Friday in a Virginia first-grade classroom by a 6-year-old pupil, officers mentioned. The coed is in custody.

No college students have been injured at Richneck Elementary College in Newport Information, Virginia, police mentioned.

“The altercation was between a 6-year-old, the coed who did have the firearm, and the trainer,” Newport Information Police Chief Steve Drew mentioned. “This was not an unintentional capturing.”

Drew mentioned a name was acquired in regards to the capturing at about 2 p.m. and authorities responded “inside minutes.” He mentioned there’s not a continued risk to the neighborhood.

“We didn’t have a scenario the place somebody was going across the college capturing. We had a scenario in a single explicit location the place a gunshot was fired,” Drew mentioned in a press convention.
