You are stuck in a snow storm. Are you sure what to do after you die? Daybreak O’Hair’s thoughts of young love were on her mind as she left Chicago to go to Indianapolis to see her boyfriend.

Her weekend trip to the winter of 1997-98 didn’t go well. On Monday, O’Hair got in her car very early to drive back to Chicago and her job. She and her boyfriend got into a fight.

She should have stayed at home. The 23-year-old was driving on Interstate 65 when he ran into a snow storm.

“I found myself in white-out situations. I had a hard time controlling my 1995 Chevy Cavalier ” She said, “The wind was wacky. A lot of snow was blowing in the wrong direction. It took a long time to see. It was very bad.

“I got nervous and decided to drive over, but my car got stuck,” she said. I didn’t know how to act. I went outside and tried to figure out how to get people to listen to me, but I didn’t have any luck. ”

And there she was, in a mess. In fact, she hadn’t looked at the weather forecasts yet. She didn’t have anything warm to wear. None of the following: No winter package here. Only her Chevy and time to think about how things went so wrong so quickly.

O’Hair’s story is one that happens all too often. People get caught off guard by a blizzard or other storm that comes out of nowhere.

Blizzards can happen at any time of year, as these runners found out when they were caught in a blizzard in Utah in October. However, January is a big month for them.
Some 10 million people living near the coast, from Maine to Massachusetts and New Jersey to Maryland, were warned about blizzards on Friday. If you want live coverage of this winter storm, click on this link to go there.

If you live in a year-round warm climate and plan to stay there, you need to know how winter storms work, how to avoid and prepare for them, and what to do in the worst-case scenario.

A snow storm: What is that? And why are they so bad?

In fact, snow storms are also called blizzards, but that is not true. CNN’s Derek Van Dam talks about what should happen before a snow storm is called a blizzard.

Not every winter storm is called a blizzard, and not every winter storm is called a blizzard.

There must be a lot of snow falling or blowing, high winds of more than 35 mph (56 kph), and low visibility for at least three hours for a blizzard to happen. A floor blizzard doesn’t fall snow. Instead, it blows around snow that fell before the blizzard started.

Any weather system that has temperatures below freezing and snow and ice could be dangerous. Blizzards, on the other hand, are one of the most dangerous types of winter storms.

There are dangerous driving conditions when there isn’t enough visibility and snow on the roads, but also “disorientation for anyone walking or driving, which can lead to the person not knowing the place they are or where they are going,” says Michael Muccilli, a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NWS.

Strong winds and cold temperatures can cause dangerous wind chills, which can cause hypothermia and frostbite if people are outside for a long time.
