Pete Davidson is talking candidly about how his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt’s pregnancy experience has been impacted by his popularity, acknowledging that he feels “guilty” for bringing her into the public eye at what ought to be a private and sacred moment.
The comic admitted, “I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s–t,” during an interview with The Breakfast Club podcast. Anything she or we do now will become a thing.
Hewitt and Davidson both want to live a tranquil life, but Davidson’s public persona has made that all but impossible.
What worries him the most, according to the 31-year-old, is how this attention affects Hewitt.
Since she is the one going through it and she is a very private person, I feel terrible for her. All of the job is being done by her,” he revealed.
“It’s supposed to be a beautiful experience,” he said, emphasizing that Hewitt had never grumbled or made him feel bad about herself.
The former Saturday Night Live star still feels as like he is taking something away from her.
“That in any way, shape, or form … I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy makes me feel so horrible and guilty,” he added.
Hewitt has always been understanding, Davidson said, despite his concerns.
“I really feel sorry for her in that regard, but fortunately she loves me and understands what comes with me, and we’ve discussed it before we were fully in a relationship.”
The comedian also disclosed that Hewitt felt compelled to disclose their pregnancy news after initially hoping to keep it a secret.
They “were not given a choice,” Davidson clarified, adding that “she didn’t want to post” the notification in July.
With the humorous post, “welp now everyone knows we had s*x,” Hewitt finally verified the story on Instagram.
According to individuals close to Davidson, he is excitedly embracing parenthood as the pair gets ready for their first child together.
