After Golden State’s Jimmy Butler suffered a terrifying fall in Game 2 after the Rockets guard yanked his opponent’s knees out from under him on a hard foul, some have questioned if Houston’s Amen Thompson is a nasty player.
When questioned about it Friday before Saturday’s Game 3, Thompson’s teammate Dillon Brooks had different opinions.
“No, I think the dirty player is Draymond (Green), giving him a little push as regular basketball players do,” Brooks stated. “And Jimmy is battling for a rebound in midair when things go wrong. Amen doesn’t play dirty. Being a filthy player has nothing to do with him.
According to Brooks, they can’t let worries about what others are saying about them distract them from Game 3.
“We’re not worried about that,” he stated. “We’re on to the next game and we hope Jimmy can get better.”
Following the game, Golden State coach Steve Kerr stated that he doesn’t think Thompson meant to harm Butler.
“We didn’t think there was anything wrong with the play,” Kerr stated. “It was just one of those plays.”
