Because of their unusual 11-year age difference, Hilaria Baldwin is sharing details about the special bond she has with her stepdaughter, Ireland Baldwin.
The 41-year-old talked candidly about how their relationship has always been based on respect, understanding, and fun on the March 23 episode of The Baldwins podcast.
Hilaria clarified, “I feel like my relationship with Ireland is unique for a stepmom and stepdaughter relationship, because that’s what we are technically.”
First of all, though, I’m eleven years her senior. We always manage to find a great deal of fun in the fact that I did not raise her.
As their family has grown in a pretty unorthodox way, that humor has only gotten stronger.
While Ireland, 29, became a mother in May 2023 with her boyfriend, artist RAC (born André Allen Anjos), Hilaria and her husband, Alec Baldwin, had their youngest daughter, Ilaria Catalina Irena, in September 2022.
In reference to Ireland’s visit, Hilaria said, “I haven’t seen Ireland in a long time because we live so far away and we both had babies, and even though Alec met his new baby granddaughter, I haven’t met Holland until this little trip.”
We communicate and FaceTime constantly, but we haven’t really met in person. Therefore, this morning we gathered all of the children for a play date.
“It’s amazing because we were almost pregnant together,” she remarked. “So my baby is Holland’s niece and my baby is Holland’s aunt, but my baby is nearly nine months older than Ireland’s baby.”
Hilaria clarified that Ireland has always been hospitable and encouraging, even in the face of the difficulties that mixed families sometimes provide.
“I had a conversation with Alec when I first met her before I became her stepmother, and I told him that I wouldn’t stay if she didn’t like me because I wouldn’t be a bad stepmother,” she remembered. “I don’t come into a family and cause trouble; that is not my place in life.”
