Queen Camilla went out to fulfill a personal royal obligation.
The new emergency department at Great Western Hospital in Swindon was formally opened by the Queen Consort on Tuesday.
Notably, she gave birth to her daughter Laura—whom she shares with her ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles—at the same hospital.
During her hospital visit, Queen Camilla was seen on camera smiling with happiness.
“An inspiring morning meeting the incredible patients and dedicated staff at Great Western Hospital in Swindon—proof that not all heroes wear capes!” the royal family also said in a statement.
“The Queen visited the enlarged, cutting-edge facilities and officially launched the new emergency department. These consist of specific areas for serious injuries, quick evaluation, resuscitation, and surveillance. Her Majesty also met with patients of all ages in the recently opened newborn feeding area and children’s emergency unit.
Notably, Princess Kate’s visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital, where she had cancer treatment, was immediately followed by Queen Camilla’s tour.
It has been suggested that Camilla’s significant choice appeared to be a nod to the future Queen.
