SHORT STORY (Promiscuously Toxic)

Marcus had always been a charmer. With his sharp suits, smooth words, and irresistible confidence, women were drawn to him like moths to a flame. But commitment? That wasn’t his game. He thrived on the chase, leaving a trail of broken hearts in his wake.

That was until he met Simone. She was stunning, intelligent, and, unlike anyone Marcus had ever encountered, completely uninterested in his usual antics. Intrigued, he pursued her relentlessly, and for the first time, Marcus found himself falling hard.

Months into their whirlwind romance, Marcus thought he had found the one. Simone seemed perfect—too perfect. Slowly, cracks began to show. She was overly secretive, disappearing for hours with vague excuses. Texts from unknown numbers lit up her phone late at night.

One evening, Marcus decided to confront her. “Who are these people, Simone?” he demanded.

Her laugh was cold, a sound that sent a chill down his spine. “You really thought you could outplay the player?” she said, tossing a folder onto the table. Inside were photos and messages—evidence of his past betrayals, meticulously gathered.

Simone leaned in close. “You reap what you sow, Marcus.”

As she walked out, Marcus sat in stunned silence, realizing the truth: karma wasn’t just catching up—it was Simone herself.
