During his first royal visit of the year, Prince William will be doing several significant tasks on behalf of his father, King Charles.
Along with heads of state, presidents, and prime ministers from across the world, the queen is scheduled to go to Poland on Monday, January 27, to attend the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust.
The Prince of Wales will take the lead and commemorate the momentous event in London while the King is gone.
William will give a stirring speech to the crowd while occupying the center stage at the Guildhall event commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day.
A royal insider told Express.co.uk, “The Prince of Wales is honored to take part in such an important commemoration as part of an unending commitment to remember those who perished and suffered from the horrors of the past.”
The update follows King Charles’s moving explanation of why, despite his continued cancer treatment, he felt it was important to attend the commemoration service at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial.
Regarding the visit, Charles stated, “I feel I must for the 80th anniversary,” according to The Telegraph. “It’s really crucial.”
He revealed that there would come a day when there won’t be many survivors left to tell their experiences because he “can’t bear the dwindling number left behind.”
