PEORIA, Unwell. — Two individuals died Saturday when a small, single-engine plane crashed on a freeway in Illinois.

The plane crashed about 12:30 p.m. Saturday on a stretch of Route 116 in Hanna Metropolis.

The victims, one man and one girl, haven’t been recognized. Coroner Jamie Harwood stated autopsies could be accomplished Monday. The person was aware when first responders arrived on scene, whereas the girl was not, Harwood stated.

The airplane was a Mooney M20K, based on the Nationwide Transportation Security Board, which is investigating the accident.

Close by enterprise proprietor Ron Gulley was sitting in his restaurant, the Espresso Can, when he noticed the airplane skid by and hit the nook of one other restaurant. He ran outdoors, together with a primary responder who was in his enterprise, and noticed the person and girl within the airplane. He stated the propeller and the engine had been pushed again towards the person and girl.

“It was only a mess,” Gulley stated.
