Until the very end, Zoe Saldana will honor her promise to James Cameron.
With her part in the Oscar-nominated movie Emilia Pérez, the actress may be pursuing new artistic endeavors, but she isn’t abandoning the popular series that made her famous.
In a recent interview with Deadline, the Avatar actress discussed her enduring devotion to James Cameron’s science fiction blockbuster.
She also uses the word “long-standing” to signify incredibly long-standing.
The 46-year-old Saldaña disclosed the extent of her career commitment to Pandora and the Na’vi.
Hammond was immediately stunned when she remarked, “I think — if all goes to plan — I’m gonna be 53, 54 for the fifth and very last one.”
Given that she joined on at the age of 28, the actress will have spent an incredible 26 years in the Avatar universe. She will still have time to work on other projects in between sequels, so don’t worry.
She isn’t complaining.
Pandora, according to Saldaña, is “magical,” and returning to her role as Neytiri is a “gift” because of the character’s immense influence on her.
And it’s safe to say that Cameron’s epic universe is still as profitable as ever considering how Avatar continues to rule the box office, earning an incredible $2.92 billion globally to date.
So, while some actors might hesitate at a 26-year commitment, Saldaña seems more than happy to embrace the journey—even if it means she’ll be in her 50s by the time it wraps.
