How Tyler Glasnow met his wife-to-be, Meghan Murphy
Glasnow and Murphy’s love story began in the most adorable baseball way imaginable. Back in 2021, when Tyler Glasnow was with the Tampa Bay Rays and rehabbing a pitching injury, he spotted Meghan Murphy sitting in the stands. He was immediately attracted to Meghan’s simple, girl-next-door look, and asked the team photographer to zoom in on her.
Then, Tyler did something that only a few athletes would dare – he scribbled his number on a baseball and had a batboy deliver it to her. To his surprise, Meghan returned the next day and responded in the same way. In May 2024, Glasnow shared on the On Base with Mookie Betts podcast:
“I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I had our team photographer zoom in on her—this just sounds very weird—but she was wholesome, with a girl-next-door look. So I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her, and told her to text me. She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number, and told me to text her.”
And just like that, one of baseball’s sweetest meet-cutes was born. While it all began with a crush, Glasnow and Murphy’s romance bloomed into a wonderful love story, with the pitcher finding all he had been looking for in the Florida-born beauty. Speaking about their unexpected love story, the star pitcher shared:
“I didn’t think anything would come of it, but then I met her, and she was awesome. She has a really good personality, loves to travel, and is really fun, so it’s super easy. That was the first time I’ve ever thrown a ball to someone [with my phone number on it], too. And I still don’t think she believes me.”
Who is Meghan Murphy?
Tyler Glanow’s fiancée, Meghan Murphy, is someone people might call ‘beauty with brains’. Born in 1993, the Florida native holds a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Nova Southeastern University. Not much is known about her personal life, except that she currently works as an aesthetic injector at Marcadis Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa in Tampa.
There have been rumours that Meghan was a beauty queen and possibly even Miss Nebraska, but these claims have never been confirmed. Often seen on the pitch in between matches, Murphy is a grounded, successful, and, as Glasnow puts it, “the least stressed-out person I know.”
Inside Glasnow and Murphy’s engagement
Though their love story began in an unconventional way, Tyler and Meghan’s bond only grew stronger over time. After dating for two years, in August 2024, the Dodgers’ pitcher popped the question. The engagement remained under wraps for months until fans noticed Murphy’s sparkling ring during the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series victory parade. In March 2025, Glasnow officially confirmed the happy news on The Chris Rose Rotation podcast, saying:
“She’s my fiancée now. I was super nervous when I did it, but it was super fun. Now we’re just planning it all.”
Tyler and Meghan have been on numerous adventures together, travelling across the world, from South Africa and Zimbabwe to Peru’s Machu Picchu. The 32-year-old MLB star describes his fiancée as a “fun” personality who “loves to travel, and makes everything easy”, as per his interview with The L.A. Times.
When are Tyler and Meghan planning to get married?
Now engaged for over a year, Glasnow and Murphy are all set to exchange vows in November 2025. The preparations are already underway, and Meghan had a dreamy bridal shower in September 2025. Photos on her Instagram showed her in a chic netted white dress, and one playful shot featured her wearing a funny white veil decorated with pictures of Glasnow.
The couple has planned an intimate island ceremony with close family and friends, with the food prepared by their own private chef. Glasnow is reportedly covering all wedding expenses, including everyone’s travel and accommodations, and there will be no wedding gifts. Speaking of their wedding planning, the star pitcher told podcaster Chris Rose:
“Meghan’s doing a lot of stuff, yeah, I’m helping when I can, certain things with the food and all that stuff. It’s nice to sit down and do it with her, but she’s been doing a really amazing job with it. It’s a smaller wedding, it’s not super crazy.”
