As the trial began in Manhattan, New York, the jury, which consists of eight men and four women, heard opening remarks from the prosecution and defense on Monday.
The 55-year-old hip-hop entrepreneur has entered a not guilty plea to five counts and has vehemently refuted the accusations made against him.
These include two charges of sex trafficking by force, deception, or coercion, one count of racketeering conspiracy, and two counts of transportation to participate in prostitution.
