Ukraine launched cruise missile attacks on industrial facilities in the Russian city of Volgograd during the night and early on Saturday morning, according to official reports.
At least 10 people were injured and the production facilities of one plant were damaged, Governor Andrei Bocharov wrote on his Telegram channel. “High-speed flying objects” were used, he said, likely referring to cruise missiles.
Several fires broke out locally and were extinguished, Bocharov added.
Residential buildings were reportedly not affected. He did not provide further details regarding the specific company that was targeted.
Unconfirmed Russian and Ukrainian media reports said the facility in question is Russian arms factory Titan-Barrikady. The Astra news site reported seeing plumes of smoke rising from the factory.
The strikes were carried out with Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles, the site reported, citing an analysis of image and video footage.
Titan-Barrikady makes parts for the Iskander, Yars, and Topol-M missile systems, which in principle can also carry nuclear weapons.
Ukraine has been fending off a full-scale Russian invasion since February 2022.
