Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has agreed to a 14-year, $500 million deal extension with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to several sources. The 26-year-old’s contract extension is still pending a physical.
Guerrero was due to become a free agency following the 2025 season, but he would most certainly spend the rest of his career with the Blue Jays. The deal concludes a protracted story that began during the 2024 offseason, when rumors indicated that Guerrero and Toronto were at odds in discussions.
Vlad Jr., the son of baseball Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero, signed with the Blue Jays as a 16-year-old international free agent in 2015 for $3.9 million.
Since making his Major League debut in 2019, Guerrero has been one of baseball’s most prolific hitters, hitting.288 with 160 home runs and 511 RBIs. Guerrero had his greatest season in 2021, when he finished second in the AL MVP voting and led the MLB in home runs with a.311 average, 48 HRs, and 111 RBIs.
He has two Silver Slugger awards and previously won a Gold Glove. This season, he is hitting. 256 with four RBIs in 39 at-bats.
