In a statement to Sky’s US partner network NBC News on Friday, her family reported she committed suicide in the Perth suburb of Neergabby, Australia, where she had lived for several years.
“It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia,” according to her relatives.
“She committed suicide after suffering from sexual abuse and sex trafficking for her whole life.
“Virginia was a dedicated fighter against sexual abuse and trafficking. She was the light that helped so many survivors.
“In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.”
On Friday night, police said emergency services received reports of an unresponsive lady at a Neergabby house.
“Police and St John Western Australia responded and administered emergency first aid.” Unfortunately, the 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene,” a police official said.
“The death is being investigated by Major Crime detectives; early indication is the death is not suspicious.”
Sexual assault claims
Ms Giuffre sued the Duke of York for sexual assault in August 2021, claiming that Andrew had intercourse with her when she was 17 and was trafficked by his buddy, wealthy paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The duke has constantly rejected the allegations, and he has not been charged with any illegal activity.
In March 2022, it was revealed that Ms Giuffre and Andrew had negotiated an out-of-court settlement, which included a “substantial donation to Ms Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights”.
She clung to her version of events to the end.
Virginia Giuffre became as the most well-known of Jeffrey Epstein’s many victims.
