It occurs at a time when crossings are expected to set a new record in 2025.

According to a PA news agency study of Home Office data, some 25,436 persons have already traveled this year, which is 49% more than at the same time in 2024.

Initially revealed during the French president’s visit to the UK last month, the pact was praised as a “good agreement” by the prime minister and the president.

Additionally, the plan allows for the instant detention of anyone arriving in a small boat, with room reserved at immigration removal centers for their arrival.

Sir Keir requested that you “send a clear message – if you come here illegally on a small boat you will face being sent back to France” .
