Police said they were investigating the shooting as a homicide and did not know whether it was a terror or hate crime-related occurrence at this time.

A police spokeswoman stated they received information that someone had left the scene on an electric scooter, but it was unclear if they were a suspect, witness, or otherwise.

Following gang shootings throughout the nation, electric scooters have been employed as a form of transportation on many occasions.

Uppsala, a city around 70 kilometers (43 miles) north of Stockholm, has had a number of gang-related shootings during the last decade, albeit mainly outside the city center.
