Teddi Mellencamp is choosing positivity and hope—and even a joyful dance or two—as she delivers a significant update in her battle against stage 4 cancer. The 43-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared the good news with followers in a poignant Instagram video on Wednesday.
“The crying is already done,” she added with a smile.
“I just finished with all of my scans and my tumors have significantly shrunk, which doctors believe means that this [treatment] all will work and that I will be back to myself and feeling good!”
Prepare the confetti—and even a little cautious optimism. Mellencamp added that she has two more sessions of immunotherapy remaining and that, if all goes well, “hopefully [she will be] done and cancer-free.”
“I’m gonna keep a positive outlook because that’s the way that my doctor just spoke to me,” she told me. “He’s like, ‘You did it. “You’ve got this.”
Mellencamp reiterated that upbeat note in the caption of the image, writing, “I have 6ish more weeks of immunotherapy and doctors believe I will be healed if everything stays on course.”
She also took the time to thank her followers for their “love, prayers, and positivity” throughout what has surely been a difficult road.
This encouraging report comes just after the reality star spoke openly about the terrifying uncertainty of her diagnosis.
During an interview with Nightline earlier this month, she revealed that her chances of recovery were a coin flip.
“One of my favorite questions is, ‘How long have I got?’ or, ‘What are my chances?’ And they frequently remark, ’50/50,'” Mellencamp stated. How did she react? Understandably real.
“’50/50?! I wouldn’t buy a car that will only be driven half of the time. “I do not want this!”
Teddi initially stated that she was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022.
Things became worse early this year when several tumors were discovered on her brain. She had emergency surgery to remove four of them and has since been receiving immunotherapy to combat the remaining tumors.
Now, with the most recent report indicating good development, Mellencamp is demonstrating that, while reality TV may have made her famous, her real-life strength is what truly inspires.
