I had to say hello to Mindy Prugnaud on a Friday afternoon in February when I spotted him out in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village neighborhood. I simply wanted to find out more about her amazing coat.

The 56-year-old Ms. Prugnaud said that she had recently purchased it at an Isaac Mizrahi archive auction and that the creator of the item was a friend. According to Ms. Prugnaud, CEO of Mint Group, a European fashion firm that, among other things, manages purchasing procedures for specific American department shops, “Isaac’s fashion shows were always so fabulously chic in the ’90s.” She and her husband own the business; they were both present on the day we met, along with their two children.

Ms. Prugnaud wore a patterned scarf with her coat that she claimed had a particular place in her heart. It came from the label AZ Factory, which was established by designer Alber Elbaz during his tenure at Lanvin. It was introduced by Mr. Elbaz in 2021, only months before he passed away from COVID-19.

She remarked, “I always wear this scarf.” It’s quite happy, which is very typical of him. Every time I go, I wear it. As if he is still with me.”
