Starmer’s plan to recognize Palestinian state.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denounced Sir Keir Starmer’s proposal to recognize Palestine as a state as “appeasement towards jihadist terrorists”.

The prime minister declared that unless Israel takes “substantive steps” to resolve the situation in Gaza, agrees to a truce, pledges to maintain a lasting, sustainable peace, permits the UN to resume relief shipments, and refrains from annexing the West Bank, the UK will recognize a Palestinian state by September.

Last week, almost 250 Members of Parliament from all parties, half of whom were Labour, signed a letter urging Sir Keir to recognize a Palestinian state right away.

“I hope this will help change the conditions on the ground, and make sure aid gets into making sure that there is hope of a two-state solution for the future,” Sir Keir added, referring to the UN conference on September 9 as the deadline for Israel.

However, Sir Keir “rewards Hamas’s monstrous terrorism and punishes its victims,” according to Mr. Netanyahu, who denounced the initiative.

“A jihadist state on Israel’s border today will threaten Britain tomorrow,” he stated on X.

“Terrorists who practice jihad are never appeased. It will also fail you. It won’t occur.

Following Emmanuel Macron’s pledge last week to recognize a Palestinian state, the Israelis also accused Sir Keir of undermining attempts to free Israeli hostages by caving in to his MPs and France.
