In a world where a couple breaks up at the drop of a hat, Srijana Subedi and Bibek Pangeni taught us what true love looks like. Srijana stood like a strong pillar beside Bibek while he bravely fought against cancer. Unfortunately, Bibek lost the battle with cancer after over a year of living with his wife and their millions of well-wishers completely distressed.
Bibek Pangeni passed away on December 19, 2024, after suffering from stage four brain cancer. For the unversed, Bibek was suffering from the deadly disease for over a year, and he was previously a PhD scholar in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Georgia. He was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2022, and ever since, his wife has been caring for him.
Srijana Subedi and Bibek Pangeni’s love story
Talking to POI, Srijana shared that she had known Bibek since childhood. He was her school senior, and the duo gradually fell in love. They have known each other for over a decade and dated for six years before tying the knot. After marriage, Bibek shifted to the US to pursue PhD in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Georgia.
The couple was very much in love and looked forward to growing and thriving as they shifted bases. But fate has some other plans. Bibek soon started suffering from frequent headaches. Suddenly, he was unable to walk and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Bibek’s battle with cancer
After MRI, it was revealed that Bibek was suffering from stage four brain cancer. The couple’s worl collapsed, but Srijana did not lose hope. She stood strong beside her husband, Bibek, who went through two major surgeries in the next month. Doctors told the duo that Bibek had only six months to live, but Srijana did not give up.
In the following months, Bibek’s health deteriorated, and he grew weak. But Srijana stood beside him like a pillar. Unfortunately, after fighting cancer for over a year, Bibek lost the battle and left for his heavenly abode on December 19, 2024.

Recently, a video from Bibek Pangeni’s last rites made rounds on social media, showcasing the courageous Srijana Subedi taking part in the rituals. Despite her overwhelming grief, she bravely performed the rituals, her hands trembling with emotion. In a poignant moment, she was seen murmuring something about being near her late husband’s dead body, then she hugged him and started crying. Her acquaintance had to gently guide her back, a scene that instantly tugs at the heartstrings.
