Pamela Anderson is embracing her natural beauty, and feeling more confident than ever.
The 58-year-old actress and author, who has famously chosen to go makeup-free in recent years, opened up about her journey of self-acceptance and confidence while speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at her Sonsie pop-up event in New York City.
Since becoming co-owner of Sonsie, a skincare company that promotes mindful beauty, in January 2024, Anderson said her own outlook on beauty has transformed.
“So much more freeing and so much more confidence,” she shared about how the brand’s philosophy has influenced her.
“It’s a choice,” she emphasized, during the event held in Soho on Friday, Oct. 24.
The Baywatch icon admitted that living without makeup isn’t always effortless.
“You do have to work on it. It’s a practice to be confident going out of the house with or without makeup,” she said while chatting.
Reflecting on her decision to step away from beauty norms, Anderson said she simply felt it was time for a change.
“I just kind of could see something culturally and I thought, ‘I want to jump off the crazy train. I want to be one of the first ones to jump off the crazy train and just peel it back and see what’s going on,’” she explained.
For Anderson, simplicity has its perks. “I’ve saved a lot of time,” she joked, noting how forgoing daily makeup has made her routine easier and her mindset lighter.
The mother of two, she shares sons Brandon Thomas, 29, and Dylan Jagger, 27, with ex-husband Tommy Lee, also reflected on how her younger self might have viewed this choice.
When asked if she’d offer her past self any advice, Anderson said, “That’s the thing. You look back in hindsight, after having some life experience, you can look back and see yourself. But I mean, I don’t know if I’d give her any advice.”
She added thoughtfully, “If someone told me to do something when I was younger, I wouldn’t have done it. So you just have to kind of find your own inspirations and own reasons.”
Through her commitment to authenticity, Pamela Anderson continues to redefine what beauty means, showing that confidence truly starts from within.
