Angela Phillips grew up in Ohio and has run a family-owned manufacturing enterprise there since 2009. In 2018 she was trying to develop the agency and, given her years of expertise with labor unions, believed it made sense to develop in a right-to-work state. So in 2020 she opened a Phillips Tube Group plant proper throughout the border in Richmond, Ind., which now employs greater than 25 individuals.
Phillips Tube isn’t alone in crossing state strains to profit from a right-to-work legislation, which frees workers from being compelled to belong or pay dues to a union. We not too long ago printed a nationwide research on the impression of those legal guidelines between bordering states, utilizing knowledge from greater than 3,000 U.S. counties in 18 industrial sectors and in two distinct time intervals.
