No President has been extra hostile to charters colleges than Joe Biden, and his Division of Schooling is proving it with proposed guidelines that undermine the federal Constitution Colleges Program. The assault is triggering a bipartisan political backlash.

In an April 6 letter to Schooling Secretary Miguel Cardona, six Republican Senators led by North Carolina’s Richard Burr notice that Congress rejected a proposal that makes it more durable for charters to faucet the federal program. “Such blatant disregard is yet one more instance of this Administration ignoring the need of Congress and performing by government fiat,” the Senators write. They are saying the division has refused to fulfill with Mr. Burr’s workers.
