Opinion | A Canonized Saint Who Started as an On a regular basis One

I’m apparently referred to as to be a saint. That was a considerably disconcerting revelation for a cradle Catholic in his late 40s. However in response to a homily throughout Mass some years again, that is the aim for which I used to be born.

With additional studying, I discovered this vocation doesn’t require me to be declared a capital-S Saint by the Catholic Church. I simply should be holy, or set aside for God—a lowercase-s saint. It’s no easy activity, although, to shut the hole between who I’m and who I’m referred to as to be. That is the place the wondrous St. Thérèse of Lisieux, or the “Little Flower,” has proven me a means.
