Olivia Rodrigo wins over Ed Sheeran with her talent

Following their performance together at London’s Hyde Park, Ed Sheeran recently gave Olivia Rodrigo high marks.

The singer, 34, who became well-known in 2011 after releasing his first album, +(Plus), called Rodrigo “one of the brightest stars of the next generation.”

The Perfect hitmaker posted a photo of himself and the Driver’s License artist from the Friday, June 27 event on Instagram.

“Since ‘Driver’s License’ blew my mind back at the start of 2021,” Sheeran wrote as the description for the photo. As a true fan, I think both of Rodrigo’s albums—Guts and Sour—are fantastic. We sat next to one other with her mother and my father when we first met in 2022 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

She called and asked me to sing ‘The A Team’ with her, which was an absolute joy, but I was still going to see the show. It’s an honor and a joy to be playing that song to new fans with one of the biggest performers of the next generation, as it turns 15 this year. I remember performing it to empty rooms in 2010. The UK adores you, @oliviarodrigo, for rocking Glastonbury on Sunday.

Among the highlights of this year’s BST Hyde Park series, which also features Sabrina Carpenter, Neil Young, and Stevie Wonder, is undoubtedly Olivia Rodrigo’s performance.
