Priyanka Chopra’s journey is a tale of success that will not be forgotten any time soon. From being bullied while at school in the US to being crowned Miss World in 2000, from conquering Bollywood to now becoming a global icon, Priyanka’s story serves as inspiration to us all never to give up no matter what challenges we face in life. However, it’s not just Priyanka’s grit and determination that’s kept her going, but also her strong presence of mind, always thinking one step ahead. Recently, her mother, Madhu Chopra opened up about PeeCee’s backup plan in case she didn’t make it in Hollywood.
Madhu Chopra reveals that Priyanka Chopra’s production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, was her backup plan
Priyanka Copra’s production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, was established in 2015. Since then, the production house that is primarily focused on regional films, has bankrolled more than ten films in Nepali, Assamese, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Marathi, Hindi, and even English. Two films by PeeCee’s production house, Ventilator and Paani, even went on to win National Film Awards.
However, interestingly, the production house was actually started as a backup plan if Priyanka’s venture into Hollywood didn’t pan out. Her mom, Madhu Chopra, recently opened up about the same while having a candid chat with the YouTube talk show, Something Bigger Show. Madhu said:
“When she decided to work in the Hollywood, when she got that opportunity, I told her, “You are here at the peak of your career and you want to go to US and start struggling from bottom up so we should have something to fall back here. So don’t just abandon everything and go. If you will have something here, you will feel confident and won’t be worried. That’s how we started Purple Pebble Productions. It was more like our plan B.”
Madhu Chopra said Priyanka Chopra wanted to use her ‘platform and voice’ to give newcomers a shot
During the conversation, Madhu Chopra also spoke about her daughter, Priyanka Chopra’s vision for her production house. According to her, as Priyanka’s career in Hollywood continued to flourish, so did Purple Pebble Pictures.
So, the Citadel actress decided to use her ‘platform and voice’ to give newcomers an opportunity due to her own struggles in the past. In Madhu’s words:
“But when she did well there, Purple Pebble Pictures also flourished. She thinks very differently. Our production house only makes regional films. She had the platform and voice, so she did it. She has decided to give opportunity to newcomers and all our films has a newcomer, be it a writer, director or actor. She had it hard, so she wants to give a platform to others.”
