The NBA star became a popular face over the years for his basketball skills. He played with the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dahveon Morris is not the biological son of Dwyane Wade
As mentioned, Dwyane Wade has five children. However, only three of them are his biological children. Notably, among the other two, Dwyane is taking care of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, after getting full custody in 2011. The duo has shared a close bond with each other over the years, including the fact that they have similar interests in basketball. Furthermore, Dahveon has played basketball with Dwyane’s son, Zaire, when they were in Sierra Canyon School.
Zaire Wade aims to build a career in the NBA like his father
Zaire Wade is the eldest son of Dwyane Wade, born in 2002. Inspired by his father, Zaire also aims to establish himself as an NBA player in the future. Apart from playing with Dahveon Morris, Zaire has also played with Bronny James, the son of LeBron James. He was also drafted by the Salt Lake City Stars a few years ago in 2021. Zaire collaborated with his father the same year and launched a non-profit organisation called Athlete Ally. Zaire has even started a separate fashion company, YnG DnA. While addressing his son’s basketball skills, Dwyane once said in an interview:
“He’s in the driver’s seat. If basketball is the ultimate goal, then I’m just trying to help him along the way, understanding there’s so many different ways to get to this goal. There’s so many different ways to get to the NBA or to get that path… So, I’m just trying to help him navigate through expectations that the world has put on him.”
Zaya Wade created headlines a few years ago for a particular reason
Born to Dwyane Wade’s first wife, Zaya Wade started staying with her father after he was given full custody. Zaya was in the headlines in 2020 when she came out as transgender, with her family standing beside her for support. Dwyane Wade once recalled the time when Zaya came out, saying that she asked to be referred to as “she and her.” Zaya participated in the Dove Self-Esteem Project with her mother in 2022. She said in an interview at that time:
“Once I came out, there was a lot of hateful comments about how I should grow my hair out long or fit into a certain version of femininity, even though that’s not true at all. That kind of advice is just trying to break you, but don’t let it.”
Dwyane Wade’s fifth child was born through surrogacy
Dwyane Wade has been married to Gabrielle Union for more than ten years since 2014. The pair had a child named Kaavia Wade through surrogacy in 2018. Notably, the decision for a surrogate emerged from Gabrielle’s longtime battle with infertility and IVF that did not work. Gabrielle even claimed in her book, We’re Going to Need More Wine, that she had multiple miscarriages. However, she said that Dwyane Wade supported her while she was struggling with her problems.
Dwyane Wade had another child with someone else before he reconciled with Gabrielle Union
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s love story started in 2009. However, the couple separated for some time in 2013 due to their busy schedule and the long-distance relationship. Although the couple reconciled by the end of the year, Dwyane Wade welcomed a child, named Xavier, with Aja Metoyer, before his reunion with Gabrielle. Dwyane claimed in his self-titled memoir that it is hard for him and Xavier to meet each other every day because they don’t live together.
