Lily Allen apologizes to Katy Perry

Lily Allen is taking a minute to address certain remarks she now wishes she could retract and to set the record straight. After criticizing Katy Perry’s participation in the all-female Blue Origin space trip, the 39-year-old singer apologized to the pop star in a very public and poignant way on the most recent edition of her Miss Me? podcast, which was released on April 28.

“Because we’re talking about a very famous female person who’s a bit divisive, I would actually like to apologize for being mean about Katy Perry last week,” Allen said frank.

As it happens, Lily’s feud was more about her own introspection than it was about Katy. “To be honest, I didn’t need to mention her name.

Allen said candidly, “I’ve been thinking about it a lot and it was just completely unnecessary to pile on with her.”

She clarified that Perry’s celebrity made her an easy target, even if she still didn’t agree with the idea of the space voyage itself.

“She wasn’t the only one who did it, but I disagree with what they did. Allen said, “I don’t know, something in me chose to select her as the person…” She was perhaps the most well-known and the one who — it divides people the most.” Anyway, I simply apologize. If that had been me and someone in my business had taken advantage of me, I would have been hurt.
