In addition to starting their historic trip of Italy on Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla are looking forward to a significant life milestone.

The monarchs will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary while on engagements around the nation until Thursday.

To commemorate the momentous occasion in their lives, the King and Queen released their first statement after arriving in Rome.

Two beautiful pictures of the happy couple with the personal greeting were made public by King Charles’ administration.

“We are excited to celebrate our twentieth wedding anniversary in such a special location – and with such amazing people – as we embark on our first trip to Italy as King and Queen!” It said. “A presto, Ravenna e Roma!” [See you, Ravenna and Rome, shortly]

The words “Charles R & Camilla R.” were used to sign it.

The King was originally scheduled to travel to the Holy See and have a historic encounter with Pope Francis; however, the trip was canceled due to the pontiff’s health.

As a result, the formerly packed schedule has been reorganized to span two days, giving attendees a bit more time to spend at each event.
